About lyrics

About lyrics
Old songs’ lyrics are much better than nowadays. I’m not saying that there isn’t any good song today. I just think that some of today’s singer may focus more on the money but not the song itself. In my opinion, a good song needs lyrics like a good story. After listening the song, you can understand who did what or what happened in where. I think that a good song. However, nowadays songs have some abstract lyrics or very easy repeating lyrics. Repeating is a reason makes todays song became a fast food. I still don’t know why people like to repeat some words in their songs. For example, Justin Bieber has a song called baby. In that song, actually he just repeats the word “baby” and that’s it. I have no idea why this song became so popular. I have to say that todays’ songs have high technology behind them, and some good singers still make good songs and lyrics. However, it cannot stop that the quality of songs going down because it is a fast food for nowadays people. Todays’ people especially teenagers really don’t care about the song itself. They just need drumbeat and rhythm to dance to reduce the pressure of working time. They just want to shake their body with music. Why they need to care about the lyrics? Of course they need. Music cannot be the fast food; it’s art. It owns beauty and rules.
In addition, I want to talk about the reality of lyrics. I can understand hyperbole in songs. It’s a good way to describe some feeling and reality. But I cannot stand that showing off some experience that the singers never went through. It’s quite common in todays’ songs especially in rap songs. You can see some people claim that how many girls they caught, how much money they have, and even how much people they killed. It’s that a good thing to show off? If they truly killed someone they would in the prison but not still public their songs. Be real, it’s the first rule of creating anything. Using imagination doesn’t equal to making up. If the singers want to touch the audiences, they have to touch their own first.
Finally, I want to introduce an old song I think having a very good lyrics. It’s called 25 minutes made by Michael Learns to Rock.
     25 Minutes
After some time
I've finally made up my mind
She is the girl
And I really want to make her mine
I'm searching everywhere to find her again
To tell her I love her
And I'm sorry about the things I've done
I find her standing in front of the church
The only place in town where I didn't search
She looks so happy in her wedding dress
But she's crying while she's saying this
CHORUS:
Boy, I've missed your kisses all the time
But this is twenty-five minutes too late
Though you travelled so far
Bye, I'm sorry you are twenty five minutes too late
Against the wind
I'm going home again
Wishing me back
To the time when we were more than friends
But still I see her in front of the church
The only place in town where I didn't search
She looked so happy in her wedding dress
But she cried while she was saying this
CHORUS
Boy, I've missed your kisses all the time
But this is twentyfive minutes too late
Though you travelled so far
Bye, I'm sorry you are twenty five minutes too late
Out in the streets, places where hungry hearts have nothing to eat
Inside my head, still I can hear the words she said
Boy, I've missed your kisses all the time
But this is twenty five minutes too late
Though you travelled so far

Bye, I'm sorry you are twenty five minutes too late
