Intermedia #2

My original presentation was taking a stance on gay rights and gay marriage. Clearly there are many different attitudes that people take on this issue. I fought for the side that tries to protect those in our society who have been ridiculed and segregated because of their sexual orientation. I do not believe that homosexuals should have a lower quality of living because of whom they love.
Another way to look at this issue is to through the lens of the side that believes homosexuals are sinners and must be saved. In my presentation I used the Westbro church to show how ridiculous these extremist can be. However, this does not mean that everyone who opposes gay marriage is a nut. A common interpretation of the Bible states that being gay is a sin. More times than not those who dispute gay marriage are only trying to save their fellow man from committing a sin. Religious followers are simply trying to spread what they believe to be the truth about homosexuality. These people (for the most part) are not bigots or even morally corrupt people, they are only trying to inform those who are sinning that they are condemned unless they repent.

This battle of weather being gay is ok will not be resolved soon. The only way to make progress with this issue is to understand both parties’ options. I feel this resolution will not happen for some time.
